Project Nexus

Privacy Policy

This explains what Project Nexus collects, why, and what you can do about it.

Overview

Project Nexus is a Discord bot built and operated by Facture. This policy covers the bot itself and this website. By inviting Project Nexus to a server, using its commands, or interacting with a server it operates in, you agree to the practices described here.

What Nexus Doesn't Do

Nexus doesn't read your messages, track your activity, or scrape member lists. It requires no privileged intents and only 4 basic Discord permissions to function. We don't passively monitor servers Nexus is in.

Information We Collect

To provide its features, Project Nexus processes Discord user IDs, usernames, and server/channel IDs made available to it through the Discord API when a command is used.

When you use /check, Nexus looks up whether the target user is in our shared database and returns their risk level (Clear, Low, Moderate, High, or Critical), Nexus ID, known alternate accounts, the servers associated with why they were flagged, the stated reason, and any linked Roblox accounts or Roblox communities they own.

When you use /report, we collect the information and evidence you submit, including video evidence, for staff to review. When you use /appeal, we collect your explanation and any evidence you provide so staff can review the record you're appealing.

We do not collect payment information, email addresses, or IP addresses through the bot. This website's own age verification uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which is covered separately by Cloudflare's own privacy practices.

The Nexus Database

Nexus does not add anyone to its database automatically. Every record is added by hand by our staff, based on a submitted report and its evidence. Being checked via /check does not add you to the database by itself, and a /check result is only ever visible to the person who ran the command, never posted publicly.

How We Use Information

Information is used to respond to /check, /report, and /appeal commands, to let staff review reports and evidence before adding or removing a database record, to maintain the reliability of the bot, and to investigate abuse of these commands. We don't use collected information for advertising or sell it to third parties.

Data Retention

Database records and submitted evidence are kept for as long as reasonably necessary to support moderation decisions and appeals, and are reviewed and removed when no longer needed. We may retain specific records longer where required by law, to resolve an active appeal or investigation, or to enforce our agreements.

Data Sharing

We don't sell personal information. Evidence submitted through /report or /appeal is visible only to Nexus staff, never to other users. We may share information with service providers who help us host or operate Project Nexus, bound by confidentiality obligations, or where disclosure is required by law, such as in response to a valid legal request from law enforcement.

Server Administrator Responsibility

Administrators who add Project Nexus to a server and configure its features are responsible for operating their server in line with applicable law, including informing their members of any monitoring or moderation tools in use where required.

Children's Privacy

Project Nexus is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under Discord's own minimum age requirement, or a higher age where required by local law. We don't knowingly collect information from children in violation of applicable law.

Your Rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of information Project Nexus holds about you by contacting us through our support server. If you believe you've been flagged in error, use /appeal to have staff review the record directly, you'll receive our decision by DM. Removing Project Nexus from a server stops further collection in that server, though some records may be retained as described under Data Retention above.

Legal Compliance

Project Nexus is operated in compliance with applicable data protection law and Discord's Developer Terms of Service and Developer Policy, including its intent and permission requirements. We cooperate with valid legal requests from law enforcement and take action against unlawful use of the bot.

Changes To This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes take effect once posted here, and continued use of Project Nexus after a change means you accept the update.
